The Story of this Project...

Twelve girls at Kalpohini Secondary School will have their lives changed this year when Sandra and her group raise enough to help them with their school fees and necessary supplies to ensure they succeed.
Having spent time in Ghana throughout field operations, Sandra has seen firsthand the struggle that girls go through in trying to stay in school. The girls are close to dropping out because their families cannot afford the school fees. Although most girls engage in manual labour throughout vacation periods, most only make enough for lorry fare and food to eat.
Sandra's group will provide support through school fees and the provision of school materials, boarding supplies, and even additional food. These girls simply cannot fulfill their potential without these items.
Help Sandra and her group to secure a better future for girls today, and watch them progress because of your efforts.
Kalpohin Secondary High School Girls
Ahlam lost her father in 1999. Her mother has tried her best to keep her daughter in school by working as a seamstress. Sadly, Ahlam's mother barely makes enough to feed her and her two baby sisters. Ahlam wants to graduate to become an accountant one day. |
Audrey lost her mother during childbirth and was abandoned at the hospital by her father. The nurse that took her in died of tuberculosis when she was 12. Audrey's foster brother is the only support that she has and he finds it difficult to pay her fees fully.
|
Ayisha's father is a teacher, but has always struggled as he has two wives and eleven children to take care of. Ayisha is a top student, but cannot afford all that she needs to reach her full potential. Ayisha dreams of becoming a human rights lawyer. |
Christiana lost her father a few years ago, and her mother has no education or job. Christiana works as a labourer during her holidays, but never makes enough to pay her fees. Christiana needs support to achieve her dream of becoming an agricultual engineer. |
Fairuza's father was in an accident which has prevented him from working, so his eight children depend on their mother's meager income, which she earns selling food in the street. Fairuza needs support to get to nursing school so she can become a nurse. |
Faiza is a serious student, and wants to one day become an agricultural economist. Her father is a retired policeman, so the only income the family has is from her mother, who sells cold water in the street for pennies. Without external support, Faiza risks dropping out. |
Gifty comes from a rural village where her father farms and her mother sells goods in the market. With seven children to feed, they find it difficult to pay for school fees. Gifty needs support in order to realize her dream of becoming a nutritionist. |
Hanifa comes from a small village where her father works as a farmer, trying to support his 2 wives and 9 children. They barely grow enough food to survive. As her mother is a housewife, Hanifa won't be able to become an accountant without external support. |
Hawalatu has found it difficult since her father was injured and can no longer work. The money her mother earns from trading in the market barely coves their feeding costs. Hawalatu loves school and wants to continue to become a nurse one day. |
Ibtisan has always done well in school. Her father is now retired but still has four wives and ten children to feed. Ibtisan's mother works all hours of the day to try to keep her daughter in school, but without external support she will most likely drop out. |
Saadatu lost her father to sickness, leaving her mother responsible for six children. Her mother, who trades maize in the market, struggles to meet the family's needs. Saadatu dreams of becoming an accountant, but will need support to make it. |
Samata's parents are petty traders and don't make much. With 4 wives and 9 children to support, her father cannot offer her much. Her mother does her best to save for her school fees but struggles with so many children to feed. |
