GHANA YOUTH TEAM


 
 

Meet the inspiring young women who are climbing out of poverty, and bringing their communities along with them through the work they are doing with Create Change.

 
SUMAYA ABUKARI Lead Rural Community Programs Intern Sumaya is from a polygamous family with many siblings.  She was sponsored by Create Change through high schoo, and after graduation she has hired as an intern with Create Change.   Sumaya is a natural leader, not only with her work facilitating literacy and community girls clubs, but also in her community engagement work where she promotes rural development and girls empowerment.  Sumaya has also been given a scholarship to pursue a degree in Education at the University of Cape-Coast which she is now undertaking part-time.

AUGUSTINA PETER DAWUNI Lead Rural Community Programs Intern Augustina is a young lady of 26 years old and has seven siblings.  She lives with her parents in Tamale. Augustina was sponsored both through high school as well as to achieve a diploma in marketing at the Tamale Polytechnic.  She  is now working as a rural school intern where is responsible for facilitating literacy clubs and also supports in advocacy and monitoring issues in order to empower girls and rural communities. Augustina loves to work with children and has become a mentor and friend to many.

AUGUSTINA PETER DAWUNI

Augustina is a young lady of 26 years old and has seven siblings.  She lives with her parents in Tamale. Augustina was sponsored both through high school as well as to achieve a diploma in marketing at the Tamale Polytechnic.  She  is now working as a rural school intern where is responsible for facilitating literacy clubs and also supports in advocacy and monitoring issues in order to empower girls and rural communities. Augustina loves to work with children and has become a mentor and friend to many.

FUSEINA ALHASSAN Rural Community Intern Fuseina is a high school graduate of Savelugu Senior High School thanks to the sponsorship that Create Change provided.  She is now a rural school intern working to improve students literacy levels, ensuring their writing, listening, speaking and comprehension is at the required level for their grade, as well as to ensure they are getting the support they need from their parents to succeed.  With her support, many of these disadvantaged children will have the hope of progressing in their education.

FUSEINA ALHASSAN
Rural Community Intern

Fuseina is a high school graduate of Savelugu Senior High School thanks to the sponsorship that Create Change provided.  She is now a rural school intern working to improve students literacy levels, ensuring their writing, listening, speaking and comprehension is at the required level for their grade, as well as to ensure they are getting the support they need from their parents to succeed.  With her support, many of these disadvantaged children will have the hope of progressing in their education.

 
CHARITY ZAKARIA Rural Community Intern Charity was supported by Create Change since junior high, and thanks to sponsorship was able to attend Yendi Senior High where she graduated from in 2016.  Charity is currently working to improve children's literacy in partner communities, and to change parents' attitudes towards education.  She strives and desires to bring change in rural communities. Charity comes from a deprived community where not many girls have been fortunate to have education as she has. Her desire is to see  girls get opportunity in other communities similar to hers.

Charity was supported by Create Change since junior high, and thanks to sponsorship was able to attend Yendi Senior High where she graduated from in 2016.  Charity is currently working to improve children's literacy in partner communities, and to change parents' attitudes towards education.  She strives and desires to bring change in rural communities. Charity comes from a deprived community where not many girls have been fortunate to have education as she has. Her desire is to see  girls get opportunity in other communities similar to hers.

 
FADILA HARUNA Girls' Education Administration Intern Fadila studied Home Economics at Kalpohin Senior High School, and was lucky enough to be sponsored by Create Change as there was no one to support her to continue her education. She is currently a girls' education administration intern responsible for updating students information into the database and facilitates girls club meetings at the various high schools. Her outgoing personality makes her easily bond with students and all others that come to the Create Change Ghana office.

Fadila studied Home Economics at Kalpohin Senior High School, and was lucky enough to be sponsored by Create Change as there was no one to support her to continue her education. She is currently a girls' education administration intern responsible for updating students information into the database and facilitates girls club meetings at the various high schools. Her outgoing personality makes her easily bond with students and all others that come to the Create Change Ghana office.

AYISHA ABDUL LATIF Girls Club Leader Intern Ayisha lives with her aunt along with her younger brother as she lost her mom while in primary school. Thankfully, she received sponosrship from Create Change to attend Salaga Senior High school where she studied Agriculture. As a girls club intern, Ayisha teaches girls in high school about leadership, career planning, and many other important social issues. Having struggled herself, Ayisha appreciates the challenges of the girls she leads and works hard to ensure they are able to achieve their goals in life.
