998 HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES

Over the past 9 years, Create Change has supported over 998 girls girls to attend high school in Northern Ghana, providing them with school fees, school supplies, food, accommodation, career guidance and emotional support.

178 WORKING PROFESSIONALS

While a high school education is important, it is not enough to empower young women to become financially independent, or to take a leading role in important areas of development.  We have thus made it our mandate to help girls become professionals, and so far have assisted 178 girls to achieve this goal in various fields.

94 GIRLS WORKING IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

A major area where we lack female leaders is in the field of community development.  We focus on empowering girls who come from poverty to become leaders in an effort to solve the larger issue of poverty.  By empowering girls to pursue degrees related to community development, we have supported 94 girls to receive formal training and university degrees in community development and related fields.

99 GIRLS WORKING AS TRAINED TEACHERS

The teaching system in Northern Ghana is corrupt and ineffective, especially in rural areas.  It is also a field that is dominated by men.  By training female teachers who have come from extreme poverty, we are creating an army of empowered young women with the resolve to ensure the students they work with actually learn.  To date, we have supported over 99 girls to become professional teachers,

62 WORKING AS TRAINED NURSES & MIDWIVES

There is an incredible shortage of healthcare workers in Northern Ghana, so Create Change is giving young women from impoverished backgrounds the chance to become professional nurses and midwives to bring healthcare to the population.  Currently, there is roughly only one nurse per 1,250 people in Ghana (compared to one nurse per 120 people in Canada).  Create Change has supported 62 girls to become health related professionals, providing people in the region with access to more healthcare workers dedicated to solving the health challenges that they face.
